The United States should provide a Universal Health Care

The United States is one of the only "developed" countries to not have some kind of universal health care implemented for the population, and that needs to change. Americans, as always, hate change. We have always been stuck in our ways, but it is time for us to catch up.

One of the biggest arguments against a universal health care system is the price. The United States is already spending up to $10,000 per person yearly.  But when you look at countries that have a universal healthcare system, they are spending almost half as much. Sure it might take some time, but in the long run we would be saving money if we developed a similar system. If other developed countries have pulled it off, why can we not do it?

One of the most common reason people file for bankruptcy in America is because they can not afford medical bills. Countless families are torn apart every year when medical bills get too high. Our people should have the right of free health care. The rich should not be the only ones that can afford payment. A child getting cancer should not bankrupt a family. People should not be dying when there is a cure that they just can not afford. Poor people are just as human as the rich, and they deserve affordable treatment too.

The author also includes two articles, both, providing good and solid evidence that the United States can benefit from universal healthcare. The first article shows how the United States spends the most per person on health, and shows that on average other wealthy countries spend about half as much. The second article states that most Americans file for bankruptcy due to health expenses. I agree with the author that United States should consider it, I also agree with the statement that "Americans, as always, hate change." I feel that most people feel that nothing should be changed just because we're the United States, we are a very conceited country that believes everyone should try to be like us. It's a shame that people cannot get the medical attention they need just because they can not afford it.

On December 05, 2018 a blogger posted an article titled “TheUnited States should provide a Universal Health Care.” The blogger explains that the price of health care in the United States is too high, and many Americans can’t afford to pay their monthly copays. Many families are left with the endless amount of bills to pay after a hospital visit, making it impossible for average people to ever catch up. In result it causes many Americans to file for bankruptcy due to the amount of unpaid medical bills.

    I agree with the blogger health care should be available and affordable to every American no matter if you have a high paying job or not. Many people will benefit from it allowing them to have a better quality of life and no need to worry about high medical bills. Medical bills are one thing and prescription medication is another. The prices of some of the medication as ridiculous, $300.00 for a 30 day’s supply of heart medication. Yes, of course some pharmacies are nice enough to have a saving plan for all routine medications but, what happens when the medication is not on that savings plan formulary? Well the patient is now having to pay out of pocket for the highly priced medication or the just refuse to pay because they can’t afford it. Now that person will spend thousands of dollars in medical bill and didn’t even received the full treatment and may possibly end up back at the hospital or doctor’s office. The government will also benefit from it as well, they can put a health care plan in place that will be affordable to every -one no matter your income status, in the process saving money and taking care of its citizens. We are all humans and we should be treated as such. I also liked that the blogger included evidence to support his article.

  3. The United states should provide a Universal Health Care by Alora Boot is an editorial that addresses an important issue in the United States. Adopting a Universal Health Care System has been debated on for many years, but never come to fruition. The author attached two articles with substantial evidence of how citizens and the government can both benefit from a Universal Health Care System. One article points how other countries, some less wealthy than the United states, that have already adopted the universal health care system actually spend less per person than the United States. In the other article the author attached, it states that many citizens file bankruptcy to survive drowning in debt from medical bills. I agree with the author that our nation should adopt this type of healthcare system.
    Our government does not stand by its Preamble to the United States Constitution: “We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.” I believe a right to a universal healthcare system does and should fall under that preamble. A government that is always declaring they are “for the people” sure do a poor job of exercising that especially when it comes to healthcare.
    Health is unpredictable, and many health diagnoses such as cancers or organ transplants, etc. are very costly. And like the author stated, “People should not be dying when there is a cure that they just can not afford.” It is sad to think that people go bankrupt and or die because they can not afford health care to get proper treatment. If our government was truly “For The People” healthcare would be a priority.
